If you think education is expensive, try ignorance. An uneducated society has no future.

About IDP
A growing body of research reveals many of the world’s most impoverished parents choose to send their children to private schools instead of subsidized or free government schools. These private schools are owned and operated by local school proprietors who charge an affordable tuition to parents who demand higher accountability than the government sector can provide. However, despite growing market demand, low-cost private schools lack access to many basic services. In response to this growing need, the IDP Foundation, Inc. developed the IDP Rising Schools Program in partnership with Sinapi Aba Trust (Opportunity International‘s Ghanaian microfinance institution) and Opportunity-US. IDP Rising Schools is improving the quality of education offered in impoverished urban and rural communities across Ghana. Now in its third year, the program has built on its progress with 103 schools in varying stages of training. As of yearend 2011, 26,883 children had been positively impacted over the course of the program, and all school proprietors had successfully completed targeted training covering business management and school administration. IDP also partnered with Sesame Workshop to develop ten 10-minute training DVDs for teachers covering child-centered learning, active learning and classroom discipline.
